Sónar Hong Kong Makes Triumphant Debut With Electrifying Show


Electronic music icons wow crowds as the legendary festival launches in sunny-style at the Hong Kong Science Park

Sónar, the legendary Barcelona-based electronic music festival, made a triumphant debut in Hong Kong on Saturday, 1 April, as thousands of fans flocked to Hong Kong Science Park for 14 hours of cutting-edge performances from a lineup of world-class acts. From rising stars like Evian Christ and Lady Leshurr, to legends like DJ Shadow, Gilles Peterson and Dave Clarke, the inaugural Sónar Hong Kong delivered the most diverse showcase of electronic music the city has ever seen, delighting the discerning crowd.

The festival also featured Sónar +D, a trailblazing programme of creative technology activities, including talks, workshops, Virtual Reality (VR) experiences and electrifying audiovisual. Highlights of the Sónar +D programme included the pioneering Virtual Reality showcase; state-of-the-art audiovisual works by tech-savvy music innovators Dirty Electronics and Myriam Bleau; and a keynote speech and performance from influential Japanese new media artist and designer Daito Manabe.
